Mei Mei
Female
Born in 2015 (Estimate)
Sterilized
HDB Approved
Temperament: Food motivated, nervous and lively
Mei Mei was a stray in the forested areas of Changi where she lived with her siblings, who all mysteriously died.
When she was rescued she had a huge maggot wound on her back, which she still bears the scars of today. She arrived about six years ago as a very terrified young dog who would hide in her room and avoid spending time with humans.
Over time her love for food won out and she decided that people were actually ok. She is still very fearful and building confidence to walk outside on leash, but is slowly feeling more safe.
Mei Mei is a lively little girl and with the right approach and handling we hope her confidence will blossom further outdoors. She is terrified of thunderstorms and will hide in her crate.

Bobby is the sweetest, happiest girl despite being given up (for no fault of her own) by her family, who had her since she was puppy.
Bobby has lived in a home ever since she was rescued as a 3-month-old puppy. She was found in a factory with a broken leg and a maggot-bitten ear. Sadly, her family can’t look after her anymore.
As she is still living with her old injury, Bobby has a limp. But it doesn’t stop her from walking. We do recommend she takes anti-inflammatories and supplements to help keep her leg comfortable.

Egglette was trying to survive as a stray by searching for food and shelter in the canteen and factories around Shipyard Road.
Sadly she was not welcomed in these areas, and was chased away by stick-wielding workers. Naturally they frightened her, so she spent time hiding under trucks and trees to get away from them so this understandably has made her wary of people.

Luby is still nervous and wary of people, but is slowly gaining confidence. She will take treats from you gently and allow you to pet her, but she’s still getting comfortable with human affection.

While he is beginning to trust people, Skipper is still very wary and, if given the chance, will take any opportunity to escape. He has escaped from our shelter before, but moved into a nursery nearby.
When the nursery wanted the dogs out, he came back to us. Skipper is a sweet boy at heart, he just needs time to learn to trust humans and to feel confident around us.

Merritt arrived at the shelter in February 2023. It is unknown where he came from, but he was rescued from a jetty area.
When he was on the street, Merritt was bullied by an existing pack of dogs that also lived there. Despite being a smart and friendly dog, he had to protect himself from being bullied constantly. So this means Merritt is reactive toward other dogs.
Merritt is food motivated, knows how to sit and will take treats nicely from people who interact in the right way with him. He is walking on leash well but still wary of dogs, so would need help to know how to interact with other dogs.

When we’re not around, Nara will exit her kennel and go and visit all of the dogs that she likes in the hallway. So she is a sweet little thing, who we think will come out of her shell soon. Nara will probably enjoy going to a home that has another dog.

Temperament: Wary, Anxious and fragile
Leon came to us in a very bad state of health and after spending over a month at the vet was diagnosed with a severe condition.
He was diagnosed with severe ulcerative fibrinosuppurative colitis with multiple strictures. He is therefore on a very strict diet of Z/D kibble to help manage this condition.
It was advised by the vets that it is very possible that Leon’s intestine has been so severely damaged that normal function may never completely return.
We want to give this young boy the best care to make him more comfortable and help build his strength. We also hope to be able to build his trust and confidence to allow him to feel less stressed.

When he was just a pup, Jay Jay should have been loved - but instead, he was confined and physically abused by his owner.
Luckily he was rescued from that horrible situation, and came to live with us in 2022. He is slowly regaining trust in humans thanks to one dedicated volunteer who has been working with him weekly.
Jay Jay responds well to familiar faces, jumping up and happily taking treats. But he is reactive and a risk amongst unfamiliar ones - so he desperately needs professional training to reassure him.
Jay Jay is learning to walk confidently on leash and to be handled by others. But we need sponsors to help fully rehabilitate him, and find him a loving home where he can have the life he deserves.

Xiao Hei may be blind, but he has adapted well to this and is such a happy soul. He loves people and is an affectionate fellow.
He shares a kennel with his lifetime pal Bobo, who he lived with previously in a home. Sadly due to sorry circumstances, both dogs were no longer able to stay with their parent and they came to us.
Xiao Hei and BoBo arrived at the shelter around 2019. They are both toilet trained, very affectionate, low maintenance and rely on one another for comfort - and for Xiao Hei, Bobo is his guide dog.
They enjoy their walks together and look forward to getting back for treats. Finding a home together would be ideal and we know would fill it with their bubbly joyfulness!

Skye came to the shelter via the TNRM programme in August 2022, along with Panda and Skipper who share a kennel together.
Skye is the braver one and can be walked on leash, which she does at a very slow pace and a very short distance due to arthritis in her elbow.
Losing some weight will help this, aided with more soothing exercise like hydrotherapy. She can still be frightened when out on walks, so she needs a patient and experienced handler.
She has a gentle character, perks up when she sees treats and enjoys spending time by herself on her comfy bed.

Panda is learning how to walk outdoors on leash, but isn’t quite ready to take the plunge yet. We hope in time this fluffy boy will come out of his shell to trust and enjoy the outdoors.

Lucky started out as a farm dog who sadly lost his home when the farm moved. Due to his happy personality he adapted quickly to shelter life, but he LOVES to get out of his kennel to explore.
He will always greet you with a giant smile and wiggly tail. Lucky adores sniffing everything during his walks and taking a few rolls in the grass. He prefers female dogs, but probably would be fine with a male dog if given a proper introduction.
Treats are Lucky’s favorite and he is great at catching them in the air. He would do best in an active house, without little children, where he can go on excursions and come home to a nice bed.

Pokka is a three-legged girl who lives life to the fullest. She lost her leg in a factory accident, but she carries on happily.
Pokka walks at full pace but this is largely as she is very nervous on walk and easily scared by urban happenings. Having a dog she likes with her can help her confidence. She is shy with new people, but is treat motivated and responds well to positive reassurance.
She enjoys the company of other dogs, so we think the right friend in a home could help her. When Pokka came to us she was diagnosed with anemia, so requires maintenance but is a completely manageable condition.

Now we need to start working on his confidence. Zaki is terribly shy around people and has spent his time at the shelter curled up on his bed, warily watching the happenings around him.
Zaki is a sweet boy who tolerates a gentle pet, but has a long way to go in building trust with people and learning to walk on leash. Our team is encouraging him to get up and to explore.
