Lim Chu Kang Rescue Update

Gorgeous girl Faith is such a happy, friendly and extroverted personality in a tiny little body!

It has been five months since we partnered with Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore and Action for Singapore Dogs to rescue 9 dogs from deplorable conditions in Lim Chu Kang.

We are so happy to report that the 6 dogs we took in from the rescue - Nando, Bob Marley, Speedy, Clinton, Hope and Faith - are all doing well, are with us at the shelter and several of them are now ready for adoption.

Each dog has had its own unique health problems since they were rescued including heartworm, kidney/liver issues, anemia and pyometra. Thankfully, the fixable issues are now taken care of and we continue to manage each dog's healthcare and wellbeing where needed (e.g. Nando is being investigated for the cause of his ongoing anemia).

But each dog is happy, has put on lots of weight and we feel that all of the dogs - apart from Hope who is terminally ill and needs attentive care; and Speedy who is still very frightened of humans - are now ready to be loved and spoiled in forever homes.

Faith, Bob Marley, Clinton and Nando are happy, friendly and outgoing dogs who are still getting used to going for walks, and having access to lots of space. After being locked up for such a long time, they LOVE to walk and hang out with humans and other dogs. But they can be easily startled by new noises, like trucks and cars or garbage bin lids. So their adopted families will need to be aware of this while settling them in.

Each dog is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, and Handsome Bob Marley is a very friendly, chill and loving companion who gets along well with other dogs and humans too.

When Clinton first came to Animal World clinic after he was rescued, they couldn't touch him because he was so aggressive.

NOW this boy is a different dog. He is so happy, greets everyone with big kangaroo jumps and just loves to get outside and go for walks. His previous demeanor just shows you how miserable he was - now he has a second chance at life, he couldn't be happier.

This is the very lovable Nando (aka Fernando Alonso). He is a very energetic, friendly and sweet boy who does big kangaroo hops in his kennel when he sees you.

This boy is SO food motivated. He will mouth your hands even if you don't have snacks - and loves to bark at the other dogs to make sure he gets fed first.

Hope was on deathโ€™s door when she was rescued from deplorable conditions. She had to have a hysterectomy to fix septic pyometra, which we werenโ€™t confident was going to be enough to save her.

Since the operation, she has truly amazed everyone and bounced back. She does have ongoing health issues, but itโ€™s so wonderful that she gets a second chance on life and clearly feels so much healthier than what she did when we first found her.

This is Speedy, who isn't available for adoption just yet. He is still very timid, nervous and untrusting of humans.

We aren't able to handle him physically (pet him, or put a harness on him) yet and he's unable to walk outside as a result. But we are giving him lots of positive reinforcement and know he will come around, he just needs time.

You may remember Poppy, who was one of the worse affected cases in the Lim Chu Kang rescue earlier this year. She has made an incredible recovery thanks to Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore โ€“ look at her now!
